Past Simple or Present Perfect. Exercises. Complete the pairs of sentences. Use the Present Perfect in one sentence and the Past Simple in the other. 1. I (know) ......... her for six years. 2. 1. I have known her for six years. - Present Perfect.
2. I knew him when I was at school. - Past Simple.
3. He lived in Paris from 1997 to 2000. - Past Simple.
4. He has been living in New York since 2001. - Present Perfect Continuous.
5. Where is Pete? I have not seen him for ages. - Present Perfect.
6. I did not see Pete last night. - Past Simple.
7. We were at primary school from 1993 to 1998. - Past Simple.
8. We have been in this class since September. - Present Perfect.
9. I have not watched this video yet. - Present Perfect.
10. I did not watch a video at the weekend. - Past Simple.
Present Perfect - действие началось в прошлом и продолжается в настоящем или закончилось, но имеет результат в настоящем.
Past Simple - действие окончилось в прошлом.
